HOME | DONATE | SUPPORTERS | FOOD DONATIONS | FINANCIAL SUPPORT | PHOTOS | THANKS | DIRECTIONS Dear Friends of the 23nd Mildred Council Annual Community Dinner, After the death of Mama Dip (Mildred Council), the Community Dinner's Co-Founder, in May 2018, the Community Dinner Committee decided to name the event after her as a tribute to her immense contribution to the community. We all miss her very much. Thanks to everyone who played a part in making the 23rd Community Dinner a success. Over 450 people gathered together to share each other's company and culturally diverse food and entertainment. This year's event continued to benefit from the efforts of so many people who have worked on Community Dinners for the past twenty-five years. This annual celebration is designed to bring people together who might not ordinarily cross paths. This year's Dinner, the first one since 2019 and the pandemic, shows that the event continues to be an important part of the community's calendar. Furthermore, even more concerted efforts were made this year to include locally sourced foods on the menu and to be a 90% waste free event thanks to Orange County's Solid Waste Management Department. Without your help and donations, we would not have been able to offer such an exceptional dinner for so modest a ticket price. By keeping the event truly affordable (and by underwriting an unprecedented number of tickets), we were able to host citizens from every income level, and every ethnic, special needs and age group. In this way the Dinner enhances the spirit of diversity in the community. To those of you who attended on April 30th, we are sure that no explanation is needed regarding the benefit of such happenings as the Community Dinner. Our shared understanding and pride in community is, as we know, even stronger as a result of your participation and we look forward to seeing you daily in the community and at the Dinner next year.
